Welcome to our website. If you are new to forest bathing, it is the practice of slowing down, and mindfully immersing yourself in a forest environment using all five senses to take in its healing properties. There is no swimming involved. The practice originates in Japan, where it is known as shinrin-yoku which translates as "taking in the forest atmosphere", or "forest bathing".
We offer group and individual forest bathing sessions in Edinburgh. These sessions are usually around 2 hours long, during which a trained guide will lead you through a series of quiet exercises designed to evoke calm, reduce stress and bring mental clarity and focus.
You can join our open group sessions, or we offer experiences for established groups such as work colleagues, families or groups of friends, wishing to create something more bespoke. Costs vary from £17 to £30 per person depending on the type of session you would like to book.
The benefits of forest bathing
There is a substantial and growing body of scientific research showing measurable positive effects on the body and mind.

Reduced stress
Many peer-reviewed studies show that spending time in a forest environment lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and reduces anxiety.

Boosted immunity and respiritory systems
These are supported through the inhalation of plant-derived compounds, alongside the regulation of the body's stress response.

Mental clarity
Forest bathing supports mental clarity by "quieting" the brain and restoring its capacity for directed attention. The practice frees up cognitive resources for better focus and creative thinking.

Having lived with chronic pain for over a decade I have tried various approaches to mindfulness with no real effect, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I needn't have worried - it was marvelous and I genuinely relaxed properly for the first time in years. Everyone deserves this escape from our busy lives. I can't recommend it highly enough. I'll definitely be back. Thank you.

Why Choose Our Forest Bathing Sessions
Led by an experienced and genuine practitioner
You will be led by an experienced guide who understands the science behind the benefits of forest bathing, and has personally felt the profound benefits of this practice.
Their experience and knowledge turns "a nice walk" into a restorative practice.
Easy to find, accessible Edinburgh locations
Carefully selected Edinburgh woodlands provide a peaceful backdrop for your forest bathing sessions. Locations are also accessible by public transport and close to parking areas.
Small groups and tailored sessions
Our groups run with a maximum of 8 people. We balance the needs of the group and each individual by creating a gentle structure that supports everyone while allowing personal freedom within it.
Science-backed practice
Our approach includes breathwork, a little meditation, and simple rituals to let go of things that are playing on our minds. It is, however, an evidence‑informed, sensory‑based way to settle the nervous system outdoors.
